Tawny Cottage, Irton Moor

Tawny Cottage is a chic, modernly presented stone cottage at Irton Moor, near Scarborough, on the south-eastern fringes of the North York Moors National Park. It sleeps two guests in one double bedroom, so it is a lovely choice for a romantic escape. A private hot tub sits on the front patio behind a screen, with furniture for relaxing after a day exploring.

Inside, the open-plan living room has a kitchen (one step up), a dining area for two and a sitting area with a woodburning stove set within a brick fireplace. The kitchen has an electric oven, a ceramic hob, a microwave, a fridge and a dishwasher. There are two Smart TVs with Freeview, WiFi and a selection of books and games. The ground-floor shower room has a large walk-in shower and the double bedroom is up the stairs, with countryside views.

Oil central heating keeps the cottage warm and fuel, power and a starter pack for the stove are included in the rent, along with bed linen and towels. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. One well-behaved dog is welcome, there is off-road parking for one car and the cottage is non-smoking.

Seamer is the nearest village, with three traditional pubs, a supermarket and a general store with a Post Office. Shops, pubs and restaurants are 3.2 miles away. Scarborough is 5.1 miles away, with its castle, two bays, parks and gardens, the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and the Open Air Theatre for live music. Whitby is 22.4 miles away. Walkers can follow the Cleveland Way along the coast and cyclists can take the old railway route to Whitby, where you can climb its famous 199 steps to the abbey ruins.
