The surrounding Yorkshire countryside is absolutely stunning. Walk straight from your door onto the moors or drive just 9 miles to reach Whitby's beaches and famous abbey. Perfect peace and quiet guaranteed - the only sounds you'll hear are birds, sheep and perhaps the occasional pop of the wine you brought along.
Inside you'll find a well-equipped country kitchen, cosy dining room with woodburner and a sitting room featuring another woodburning stove and Smart TV. Upstairs has one double bedroom and one twin (worth noting the beds are 3 inches shorter than standard). The shower room is compact but functional, though several guests mentioned patience is needed for hot water.
Whitby (9 miles, 20 mins) offers seaside fun, fish and chips and Gothic history. The North York Moors Railway in Pickering (21 miles, 40 mins) provides scenic steam train journeys. Dalby Forest (25 miles, 45 mins) offers excellent walking trails. Rievaulx Abbey (22 miles, 40 mins) showcases magnificent medieval ruins.
Swang Cottage is ideal for couples or small families wanting to escape the rat race. The private hot tub is the perfect place to soak away your hiking aches while stargazing. Just don't drink too much wine or you might fall asleep in there!
