The Brae Reviews

We have just spent 4 nights at The Brae. We found it very relaxing, it was well equipped and it was fun to watch the duck and chickens. The hot tub was a bonus too. The Brae was in a good location for exploring the local area by car. We visited the coastal areas, like Whitby an There are a couple of pubs within walking distance, one serving food. There is a fish & chip shop which opens on Friday and Saturday and it is worth a visit.
Absolutely fantastic stay at The Brae. Had everything you could need for a short stay, owners are fantastic and were happy to help with everything. Its so cosy with the log burner on and the hot tub was brilliant with all the lights and stars out. The rooster Copper, hen and ducks are a brilliant addition to the beautiful scenery that surrounds this gorgeous, private lil get away. Will most definitely recommend and hopefully be back in the summer. Thanks guys
Lynette
Myself and my husband stayed over Christmas. It was a perfect peaceful little getaway away. Cozy and comfortable shepherds hut with everything you need. Loved waking up seeing the ducks and chickens and seeing the amazing views. Close to the local pub which we were made to feel welcome and to end the evening in the hot tub. Great place, would recommend
Sanija
Thank you very much for the hut it was lovely, warm and cosy. All the instructions provided for the facilities were very easy to follow and very useful. The pets in the garden really made the stay spectacular by providing lots of giggles and fun. The location was wonderful, we enjoyed watching the stars for the hot tub. Thank you!
While I don't typically submit reviews, the exceptional experience my partner and I enjoyed necessitates sharing our overwhelmingly positive feedback. From arrival to departure, our stay exceeded expectations. The hut was impeccably equipped, exceeding all our needs. The addition of ducks and chickens was a charming detail, and the daily feeding added a special touch. Furthermore, the hut's convenient location provided easy access to area attractions. We plan to return.
Lovely place to stay for a break! Well equipped and well designed hut with great views. Lots of privacy and the feeling of being secluded!
Deborah
The cabin is stunning, comfortable, cosy and the hosts have thought of absolutely everything. The setting and the view is just out of this world. The chickens and ducks are the cutest addition, my favourite thing was giving them some seed in the mornings. The hot tub is perfectly located, private and quiet just you and the stars. The WiFi really doesnt work, which doesnt matter at all, just be aware if like us you are self employed and cant 100 disconnect. We really hope to come back in the future.
Gillian
Lovely property with everything required and more. Helpful and friendly hosts. Hot tub and a large garden was a bonus and the chickens and ducks kept us amused. Well situated for visiting many places in North Yorkshire. Brilliant fish and chip shop and pub very close by. Would recommend a stay at The Brae.
Absolutely perfect, everything you could wish for to escape. We loved it and would highly recommend!
Absolutely gorgeous hut with the most stunning views I have ever seen! Lovely and clean, with all the home comforts needed inside. Fairly quiet and secluded, which is exactly what I wanted. Even the ducks and chickens in the garden were quiet and entertaining. The hot tub was amazing! I would absolutely recommend, and will most probably book again for next year. Loved it
Andrew
Perfect weekend retreat, private outside space, not overlooked with fantastic views.
We had a lovely stay in the Shepherds Hut and we will definitely be back. It was very clean and spacious, and had everything we needed. 55 rating. The only thing of note is that the listing states there is a BBQ and there is a picture of one however there isnt one any longer. It was not an issue for us however it may be worth updating the listing.
Rachel
What an exceptional hidden gem! Throughouly enjoy our stayed. The hot tub was a real treat. The chickens and the ducks provided entertainment when enteringexiting the property. Would highly recommend to friendsfamily and we would hope to return in the future for a relaxing carefree break.
Gillian
It was great for visiting the North York moors & its many attractions, theres a lovely vista over the Vale of Pickering, you get to interact with the ducks, chickens, wild rabbits & bird life. We thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of the hot tub. May not be the best place for people when they are less mobile & you have to climb over your partner getting out of bed, the entrance is very narrow & not the easiest to access, non of this took away from the overall fantastic experience & the hot tub.
Stuart
We really enjoyed our weekend. The hut and its setting was perfect.
Great place to relax and unwind
Charlotte
What an amazing place. Such a beautiful location and so very very relaxing. We had a lovely relaxing stay and with Scarborough so close to Snainton lovely to have a drive out and a long walk on the beach. I cant thank the owners enough and I will be back for sure.
Sandra
Cute Shepherds hut, very clean and well equipped. Hottub was so relaxing, a pergola or sturdy gazebo over would make it more accessible come rain or shine. We were lucky enough to get a break in the weather to enjoy it on both days of our stay. There wasnt any dressing gowns provided for the hottub as in other hottub stays weve visited. However this wasnt a problem as Id packed beach towels. Beautiful views and a perfect location for a romantic break away. We would definitely recommend to our friends and family. We enjoyed watching the ducks and chickens however one of the chickens does give you a sneaky peck! We visited Thornton Le Dale and Scarborough. We also enjoyed a meal at the Coachman not too far away.
A truly amazing piece of property hidden away in the North Yorkshire Moors, the Brae was just superb, with lovely decor, form bed and fantastic shower to mention the least. the hot tub was a bonus and overall well maintained. Would recommend it and be happy to go book again.
Joanne
Fabulous stay at The Brae. Very clean and comfortable. Hot tub was a perfect way to chill out after a busy day visiting Whitby. Would definitely consider another visit in the future.
Alison
Lovely property with everything you would need. All immaculately clean. The hot tub was great. Sitting under the stars with a drink with thoughtfully provided plastic glasses. The location of the village is really convenient for lots of local towns. We had a lovely time
Lauren
We had a wonderful time at The Brae as a mini getaway after our wedding. The hut felt secluded yet we were still able to walk into the village for food and drink at the local pub and then enjoyed coming back to the log fire and hot tub in an evening! We love the Yorkshire coast and it was a great place for us to go back to Whitby and we also had a wander around the lovely Thornton le Dale close by. Thank you for a lovely relaxing and romantic trip!
Amazing weekend away, we were left completely to our own devices which is what we wanted, had everything we would ever have needed & the location was brilliant! Having to turn round the right corner was a little stressful the first time but you get used to it after that would absolutely recommend and would love to go back! Hot tub was an amazing highlight.
Helena
Cabin was lovely and clean, shower wasnt very warm and the hot tub wasnt very powerful at all and left us very disapointed. The write up said there was a chip shop and a shop close by both looked like they had been closed down for a long time. The drive upto the property is very very tight and no path through the garden to the cabin is difficult in bad weather when it gets muddy.
We had a lovely long weekend at The Brae, The hut was well maintained and offered good facilities. The hot tub was amazing after a day of exploring the surrounding area. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to escape for some quiet relaxation, whilst also offering a good base to explore North Yorkshire.
Rachael
This was such a fabulous stay! The instructions are really clear on how the get there and use everything once you're there. The ducks and chickens are fabulous to wake up to and the hot tub to close out a relaxing day reading or after coming back from an adventure. Can definitely recommend and we will most likely be back!
We had a lovely couple of days at this shepherd's hut which was comfortable and well maintained. The hot tub was an added bonus. Owners have thought of everything you could possibly need even down to board games.
Beautiful inside and out, makes you feel right at home! Perfectly hidden from the outside world with fab views. We really enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend!
This was our second stay at The Brae and it didnt disappoint, even with the rubbish weather we still had a lovely break away. The Shepherds hut was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub tucked away around the back was lovely to relax in after a day exploring. We enjoyed watching the ducks, chickens and rabbits along with the birds and other wildlife. Im sure we will be back again, Thank you for a lovely stay
Charlotte
Loved every moment. .. Spent my birthday here and it made my day Thank you so much!
Absolutely amazing stay at The Brae! It is a lovely and relaxing place that has everything you need. Loved watching the ducks and wild rabbits too. Would recommend to anyone!
Darren
Fantadtic property, well maintained with attention to detail. Beautiful country surroundings, could not think of one negative comment to put, well done.
Daniel
Lovely place to stay. Clean and comfortable and which a great hot tub. The ducks were cool too! A good base to explore nearby towns and villages and the village of Stainton is pretty too which two good pubs. Would definitely go back!
Loved our stay last week. Very quiet and private. Just perfect. The shepherds hut is absolutely lovely and enjoyed our duck neighbours
Kieron
Loved this superb hut. Everything in it that we needed, very clean. Private location other than the 2 ducks which are so cute and welcome visitors. Thoroughly recommend for a great break
Beautiful property in a beautiful location. Was lovely to wake up and hear the ducks quacking in the morning! Lots of places nearby to visit such as York, Hull, Whitby and Scarborough with some hidden local gems along the way. Hot tub facilities were lovely and very nice and private back area. Owners welcoming and lovely. Hut itself was super clean and cute with lovely features and decor. Well stocked kitchen appliances and utensils. Only niggle would be for some larger bath towels but other than that is the perfect retreat! Also just to be aware the driveway is quite narrow, most cars will fit completely fine but may not be suitable for wide cars and 4x4s.
