The Coach House, East Ayton

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage and it had lots of space for our family. The staff at the hotel were very welcoming. The hot tub was great and we used it a lot to the point where the water could have done with being changed halfway through. The kitchen was a bit tired with a scratched hob and wasn't very well equipped. There were literally 6 mugs, plates and bowls so we had to do lots of washing up, not really what we wanted to be doing on holiday. We didn't use the dishwasher because of the lack of pots. One of the saucepans had the non stick surface very damaged and needed throwing. We would have liked a hoover to be able to clean up the bits our dog brought in from the trees outside. Upstairs was lovely with plenty of room, comfortable beds and a decent shower but the grouting could have done with a good clean. Outside was nice and the patio set was better than the one in the photos. The hotel guests could see through the bamboo screen opposite the hot tub and some were quite nosy! The gate to the hotel grounds was nice, as it was a quick route to the restaurant and bar, which were lovely, and also the gate could be bolted. A welcome book in the lodge telling us where to put rubbish etc, would have been great. There was plenty of parking out the front door. Overall, it was a nice cottage, was very clean bar the grouting, and with a few extra tweaks would be perfect.

Size of house good for 6 people. Outside area is tiny & not completely secure for dogs ours got out. Dishwasher broken all weekend. No vacuum or mopbucket for daily cleans. Hot tub water not very clean & needed topping up. Right next to pub garden & very noisy function kept us awake til 11.30pm with no warning. Could be so much better with a little more attention to detail & thought for outside area for what is listed as a dog friendly house. Probably will not book again.

The accommodation was fantastic spacious, clean and with excellent facilities. We stayed 2 nights to celebrate a 50th birthday and the hosts couldnt have been more pleasant. Its a 10 minute drive to Scarborough, 10 minutes from a fantastic activity centre, and with a bar, restaurant and beer garden immediately adjacent. There was an issue with the hot tub during our stay, meaning we could only use it on the first day. The hosts were aware of this and had plumbers trying to rectify it while we were there. Other than that, it was faultless in terms of location, cleanliness and service.

Great place to stay, everything as stated, plenty of room inside, and hotel next door when you want to eat out. Hot tub was a bonus and East Ayton is a lovely village a short distance from the coast but with great walks up the forge valley woods on your doorstep. Highly recommend for any group gathering.

Fantastic place to stay comfortable and clean but lacking plates knives and forks and general kitchen equipment ,no radio and not even a visitor book or any instructions on the house . Apart from that had amazing time thankyou

6 of us stayed in the coach house for 2 nights We arrived early and the host let us in , she was very accommodating The cottage itself is beautiful, it also had a hot tub in a private garden that we made the most of as the weather was kind to us. The cottage itself was clean and all the beds were comfortable The surrounding area was lovely with some woodland walks close by We went to a concert at Scarborough which was only a 10 minute drive away Would definitely recommend and would live to go back

Beautiful cottage only 15 minutes away from Scarborough so perfection location! Hotel right on the door step so ideal for a meal out and 2 minute walk back to the cottage. Lovely hot tub looking out onto a lovely green space and the bluebells were out which were beautiful to look at whilst enjoying the hot tub! Really spacious inside, good size bedrooms and communal spaces. Dog friendly which was is a bonus!

We had an amazing time and the cottage was so ideally located. Staff very helpful, friendly and the cottage was perfect for our family. Definitely booking again next year.

The coach house is really lovely we have been a couple of times before but particularly enjoyed this stay as a family with the welcome addition of the hot tub! Which was maintained very well

The coach house is wonderful! When we walked in we all said wow! Beautiful kitchen, lovely big island with great high chairs, very comfortable! 2 large, comfy sofas, big dining table. Lovely patio area with table & 6 chairs, large umbrella, fabulous hot tub which was maintained & filled during our stay very friendly and welcoming staff at the hotel next door. 3 very good sized bedrooms with very comfortable beds! Lovely bathroom, good shower. Plenty of storage throughout, we had a fantastic week here, an ideal base for travelling around. We would all highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again.

Lovely place to stay, got everything you need for a relaxing break. 1 or 2 minor issues but nothing major, the sofas are a little low and dont give much support, so, for us oldies they were a little awkward getting up from them. The hot tub was leaking but believe a part had been ordered to rectify this. Would stay again, would recommend.

Gorgeous cottage, we loved our break away here. Hot tub was fantastic. Surrounding area was beautiful for walks with the dog. Would definitely go back

We had a delightful stay. Our hot tub wasnt hot enough and after requesting more heat, it was toastie hot on our return. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was in a great area to access many activities. There are a couple of leaksworn skirting and cracked tiles but it didnt impact on our stay. The separate dining area was a wasted space due to the giant island in the kitchen it was a shame there were only 4 stools for 5 people staying there This area would have been great as a cosy snug to play gameswatch movies?? Is there consistency with hand towelsclothsmats throughout Sykes lets? It would be useful to know in advance. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The house and hot tub were lovely but unfortunately it was very dirty and needed a good clean top to bottom. Fridge, microwave, oven, toilets needed cleaning all surfaces were dirty or sticky and cobwebs everywhere. If all of this is sorted it would be fantastic place for holiday.

So on arrival the property looked lovely, a real old fashioned coach house gorgeous setting, beautiful kitchen etc. Upon closer inspection we found the property to be lacking the most basic items, no dish clothes, no bin liners, a mish mash of dinner service, one tea towel etc we had to go out and purchase our own kitchen & cleaning items. Had we been informed the property would have less than the basics we would have certainly been prepared for this not having to go straight out and purchase them. The general cleanliness throughout the property was not great, the upstairs bathroom was mouldy across the tiles in the bath area, the shower screen edge was black, the upstairs carpets heavily stained, the hob in the kitchen was so greasy and had not been cleaned, everywhere was dusty and could have done with a really good clean. We had no WIFI the whole stay and very basic TV channels we had to hotspot from our phones to watch any TV The weather during the week meant we had to spend quite a bit of time in the property so this was crucial on the first night we had awful heavy rain which caused a huge leak in the double bedroom through the roof of the dorma window, we was told to put a pan underneath it, we moved in to the twin room which was not ideal to sleep in single beds as a couple. We did approach the owner on the next day and Sykes who arranged for us to be refunded if we wished and leave but we chose to stay hoping that things would get better the roof was apparently repaired but still leaked. We did enjoy our week and the hot tub was great I just wanted to let anyone know to be prepared what they may arrive to. SUch a shame as the place is stunning and with a little effort would be an ideal base to explore a beautiful area of the country.

Unfortunately on our arrival the hot tub had not been cleaned emptied from use by previous guests. It was finally cleaned the following afternoon. On our last night the hot tub emitted a strong offensive odour when we turned on the jets so we ended up getting out after a very short time. The TV WiFi did not work for our entire stay. The washing machine wasnt working and flooded the kitchen when we opened the door. The property does not very well stocked. Tea towels and washing up liquid but no washing up sponge cloth. Only 3 plastic glasses to use in the hot tub. The house is in a great location and it could be a great place to stay but unfortunately there is little attention to detail and it is not being very well maintained. It seems to be run like a hotel room it is attached to a hotel rather than a holiday cottage.

Part of East Ayton lodge hotel with easy access to all their facilities the pretty beer garden cant be more than 60 paces. There were three hotel car parks to choose from and although busy especially when the hotel was hosting a wedding we had no problems finding a parking spot. The hotel owner dropped by to check we were happy & all the staff were very friendly.a couple of minor issues were quickly sorted out. The road that runs next to the coach house can be a little busy during the day, but was quiet at night & we slept well. A good base to explore the area.

The cottage is lovely and homely, the hot tub was a lovely bonus. The cottage isnt far from Scarborough and Whitby so ideally located. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

A lovely cottage which fitted our party of 2 adults and our 4 daughters perfectly. Lovely friendly and helpful owners East Ayton Lodge hotel. It was great to have the hotel next door, even though the cottage was independent and self contained. Directions to find it were a bit tricky. Would have been good to have a dvd player. Great location!
